Classroom Expectations
I have the following expectations for all students in all my classes:
L isten to Directions--When listening, ask yourself if you understand all parts of the directions. Raise your hand and ask questions if you need more information.
E nter and Exit the classroom prepared--You should have your binder, a pencil, your CHARGED ChromeBook, and your Social Studies textbook EVERY class period. When you leave, you should know what needs to be completed for the next class period.
A lways give your best effort--You get out of class what you put into it. Try, try, try again.
R espect property and others--Use your class time wisely. Keep your hands to yourself. Think, first, before speaking. Do not speak when others are speaking.
N o excuses!--YOU are responsible for your own behavior.
Following these simple expectations will ensure that you will LEARN as much as you can during your time in The Middle.

Test Corrections
There may be times when a student does not get the grade they were hoping for on a test or quiz. If this is the case on ANY test or quiz, a student may complete the Test Corrections form. On this form, the student needs to write the question from the test they got wrong, write the correct answer, and provide EVIDENCE from the textbook or a class assignment to prove that their answer is correct. This form needs to be turned in by one week after the test or quiz has been returned to them.
Grades will be determined by averaging the scores of the previous test and the newly corrected items. This will ensure that the student will improve their grade on a summative assessment if they correct their errors.

MiStar & Grading
As part of the district-wide emphasis to connect parents and students with their progress electronically, I will be using MiStar to communicate student academic progress. I would encourage you to log on to your account at least once every two weeks to see how you are progressing. For most tests, quizzes, class work, and homework assignments, grades should be entered within five school days of the due date. Exceptions to this would be for evaluating major projects and unit tests.
It is always possible for me to make mistakes in the grading program. I would encourage you to check your grades often and to contact me as soon as possible if you note a mistake in your grade. We can work together to solve the problem. Many times mistakes can be made when a student thinks they turned in the assignment, but there is no name on the paper. No name papers are graded and put in the "No Name" file in the Extras Crate. That would the first place to look when there is a missing assignment.
If you are working on becoming connected through MiStar and need assistance, please go to [email protected] for help.

Absent & Late Work
At the start of every week, I hand out an agenda to each student. Extra agendas are kept in the Extras Crate in their own folder. Work is also posted daily on my website (eamchugh.weebly.com). When a student returns from an absence, they should check these sources, obtain any worksheets from the Extras Crate, and then follow up with a friend in the class or with me. Be sure to turn in any work that was due on the day that you were absent into the "Absent" drawer on the Turn In Tower. Please also write the word "Absent" on the top of the paper.
My expectation is that all students will complete all work and turn it in on the day it is due. Please be sure to check MiStar often to see if you/your child has any missing assignments. If assignments are shown as "Missing" in MiStar, the grade is a zero until that assignment is turned in. I will gladly accept any missing assignments, without penalty, up until the unit assessment for that subject matter is given. Late work will be graded and entered into MiStar in a timely way, but your cooperation is appreciated in understanding that late work may often be an exception to the five day rule.
